One of our amazing camp moms invited us out to Career on Wheels Day at Anne Sullivan Elementary, and it was an incredible experience.

We had the opportunity to connect with students and introduce them to Camps by KT, confidence, entrepreneurship, and the power of ideas. It was such a joy pouring into the students and encouraging them to think about what they’re capable of!

We were even honored with a certificate at the end of the day, which made the experience even more special!

Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and we’re truly grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event. We can’t wait to return next year!!!!

During Black History Month, the Greater Houston Black Chamber recognized Camps by KT Founder and Head of Camp, Kellie Thomas, with a Member Spotlight honoring her leadership and impact in the Houston community.

The recognition highlighted Kellie’s work in youth development, entrepreneurship, and her commitment to cultivating confident, career-exposed young leaders across Fort Bend County and beyond.

Being acknowledged by one of Houston’s leading business organizations is both an honor and a responsibility. It reflects the growing influence of Camps by KT not only as a youth enrichment program, but as a mission-driven organization contributing to economic, educational, and leadership advancement within the community.

As part of our January 5, 2026 Junior Leadership Experience, three of our outstanding college camp counselors poured directly into our Junior Advisory Board and Junior Camp Counselors. The panel featured:

Together, they spoke candidly with our middle school leaders about:

• What they wish they had taken more seriously in middle and high school
• Habits and goal-setting practices that positioned them for success
• The power of leadership involvement before confidence fully arrives
• How preparation compounds over time

For our middle school students, it provided tangible proof that preparation today shapes opportunity tomorrow.

For our college counselors, it was an opportunity to step into visible leadership, mentorship, and public speaking — strengthening their own professional growth while giving back to the very pipeline that once nurtured them.

At Camps by KT, leadership is not seasonal. It is developmental. It is cyclical. It is generational.

Camps by KT hosted our first Junior Leadership Experience at the United Way of Greater Houston Fort Bend Center; a full-day leadership experience designed for our Junior Advisory Board and Junior Camp Counselors.

Middle school leaders engaged in goal-setting workshops, explored confidence development, and were introduced to the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework to help them think strategically about their futures. The day also featured a dynamic college panel discussion, giving students insight into preparation, positioning, and purpose beyond high school.

We are deeply grateful to Nordstrom for providing takeaways for our students, and to United Way of Greater Houston for providing the space.

Moments like these reflect our commitment to building confident, forward-thinking leaders equipped with clarity, structure, and ambition.

Founder and Head of Camp, Kellie Thomas, also had the opportunity to speak with students at YES Prep Public Schools – Brays Oaks, continuing her commitment to youth leadership and career exposure across Houston.

During this engagement, Kellie challenged students to expand their vision, embrace discipline, and recognize that confidence is built through preparation and exposure. She shared insights from entrepreneurship, youth development, and real-world leadership to help students see tangible pathways to success.

This annual gathering brings together experienced camp professionals committed to providing safe, transformative, and medically responsible experiences for children impacted by cancer. Sessions focused on best practices, innovative programming, safety protocols, emotional wellness, and continued professional education.

While Camp H-Town is our oncology-focused program, the leadership insight and operational excellence gained at COCACon strengthens the entire Camps by KT organization. Exposure to national standards, collaborative learning, and forward-thinking strategies elevates how we approach safety, structure, and intentional programming across all experiences.

Several of our Camps by KT camp counselors dedicated a full week of service as volunteer cabin counselors at Camp H-Town — a pediatric overnight oncology camp experience hosted in partnership with MD Anderson at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston.

During this immersive week, our high-achieving college counselors provided direct care, leadership, and joy to children impacted by cancer and their siblings. They supported daily activities, built meaningful connections inside the cabins, and contributed to a safe, uplifting environment for families navigating extraordinary circumstances.

This experience extended far beyond volunteering. It expanded perspective, deepened empathy, strengthened leadership capacity, and elevated professional development. Serving at Camp H-Town becomes a defining chapter in their personal and professional journeys — one that builds character, compassion, and confidence in ways a classroom cannot replicate.

We are incredibly proud of our counselors for stepping forward to serve at the highest level. Their willingness to give their time, energy, and heart reflects the leadership standard we cultivate at Camps by KT.

One of our most unforgettable Summer 2025 experiences took place during Medical Science Week, when Camps by KT campers received exclusive behind-the-scenes access at the home of the Houston Astros.

Campers toured the Diamond Club and stepped into the official press room; spaces rarely accessed by youth programs. Even more impactful, students engaged in a live discussion with a healthcare professional who works directly with Astros players to ensure peak physical performance, injury prevention, and recovery.

The experience perfectly aligned with our Medical Science curriculum, giving campers real-world exposure to sports medicine, physiology, and high-performance healthcare careers. They asked questions, learned how professional athletes care for their bodies, and saw firsthand how medical science operates at the elite level.

At Camps by KT, field trips are not simply outings; they are intentional extensions of our curriculum. We create rare opportunities that connect learning to real life, positioning our campers to see what is possible when preparation meets access.

We are deeply grateful for an experience that expanded vision, elevated ambition, and reminded our students that excellence is accessible.

Camps by KT is more than a camp; it’s a family that represents wherever we go. This summer, our founder, along with some of our campers and counselors carried the spirit of camp together across the globe. From Big Ben to the Eiffel Tower to Disneyland Paris, we proudly represented Camps by KT everywhere we went.
